Freehand Profit Turns Sneakers Into Gas Masks

In one of the most innovative creations we’ve seen, Gary Lockwood, better known as Freehand Profit in the art world, transforms sneakers into gas masks.  Freehand created the masks as part of his MASK365 Project which is focused on showcasing a different mask (not always a gas mask) every day for a whole year.
Below you’ll find gas masks constructed from the Air Jordan 1 “Lakers”, the Nike SB Blazer “Green Spark” and the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Savage Beast”, in addition to masks made from a black Chuck Taylor All-Star and a Black/Purple Puma First Round.
If I ever have to worry about an airborn virus I want an Air Jordan 13 “Flint Grey” gas mask to keep me safe. What about you?

Working with sneakers like the Air Jordan 1, Nike SB Blazer and the Converse Chuck Taylor, the guerrilla artist deconstructs the shoes and reuses the components to create wear-able, functional gas masks. These sneaker masks are part of a series he calls the “Branding Wars”, a series we hope to see him continue.
